About IDEA Reports
Section 618 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each state to submit annual data on children with disabilities ages 3 through 21 who receive special education and related services under Part B of IDEA. These reports help ensure the effective implementation of programs designed to improve outcomes for children and youth with disabilities. ADAPT is an acronym for Accessible Data Analysis and Publishing Tool. It is a publicly available, open-source tool that aims to provide accessible IDEA reports to all users. ADAPT is compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA. We strive to meet WCAG 2.2 AAA compliance where feasible.
How does ADAPT incorporate accessibility?
ADAPT was designed with accessibility in mind. To ensure our designs worked in real-life scenarios, we conducted usability studies with diverse user groups, including those with visual impairments, cognitive and learning disabilities, and neurodivergent users. We incorporated an accessibility settings component, which allows individuals to tailor their experience by adjusting the text size, color contrast, and the content density. This component is compatible with screen readers, braille displays, and other assistive device.
